Totems

These totems are made from solid Douglas fir on steel bases.

The beaded ones hold between 73,000 and 107,000 individually strung glass seed beads. Like the landscapes they recall, they are built up gradually in tiny material increments.

The horsehair totems are tributes to 19th century Native Americans; Quanah was Comanche, Lozen Apache. Both were known for their skilled horsemanship and courage.
